What's YOUR design aesthetic?

So now that you know that design aesthetic is (sorta the same but not limited to) Taste I’m asking you what is your design aesthetic?

Some of you might start saying Modern, Traditional, Contemporary (and yes guys there is a difference between modern and contemporary) and whilst all of this are a good start in the quest of defining your personal aesthetic, I’d like to think of those more as styles. But don’t u worry I have a tip for you guys. 

When I started to define my taste a FEW years back I gave a general description and always ended up saying Vintage Modern Industrial and while that’s basically the core of what I like and always gravitate towards to, last summer I decided to deepen my taste description so what I did to sorta describe my taste to people was I decided to look at my favorite designers and architects and whilst this list is ENDLESS and will be ever changing, There are a few people that always stand out. 

After that I decided to categorize my three STYLES: the vintage, the modern and the industrial and picked one person (designer or architect) for each category. What I ended up with was that my vintage side was reminiscent to that of Emily Henderson’s, yes that cute blonde chick which we’ve been hearing so much about lately, the same one who won Design Star and the same one who now has her own show Secrets from a Stylist (won’t keep talking about her now because there will be a lot of blogging about her believe me). My modern side was almost identical if not the same to that of Jeff Lewis, the famous Bravo-lebrity that used to Flip houses but has now proceeded to flip at his staff and accept client driven reno’s (that’s design talk for renovation FIY :P), whose style is as clean and sharp as a diamond. And finally my industrial side reminds me of a stylized Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe who I appreciate and respect and would’ve given anything to have met. Also the designer of countless buildings houses and furniture like the Barcelona chair which everyone seems to love.

After all that /\ I started thinking about what these three completely different human beings could have in common the answer was simple and it jumped at me as the sea of straight lines, soothing colors and grandness in gestures jumped at me from the mood board I had created. Then I went even deeper…. yes it was possible and yes I was completely exhausted but I took pics of three different design of each and proceeded to compare and contrast them, and while they were a few differences among them the similarities were even better. That’s how ended up with a clear vision of what vintage modern industrial really meant to ME.

So  now I ask you again what is your design aesthetic?
